Lumpy Ridge Route Options

After booking, your guide will communicate with you regarding your ability level and goals for the day. Some possible routes include, but aren’t limited to:

Batman and Robin (5.6, 4 pitches): This is the classic beginner multi-pitch climb in Estes Park, with slab, crack, and face climbing for 4 pitches to the summit of Batman Pinnacle. Each pitch uses a different set of techniques, helping you grow as a rock climber while enjoying incredible views of the high peaks of Rocky Mountain National Park.

White Whale (5.7, 3 pitches): This climb features some of the best crack climbing around, at a moderate grade. Three perfect pitches of crack and slab climbing will help you develop your techniques for another climb in the vicinity once you’re done.

Melvin’s Wheel (5.8, 3 pitches): This makes a great follow-up climb to White Whale, featuring excellent 5.8 crack climbing for two long pitches before tackling a final offwidth crack to the summit of the Bookmark. This climb is a step up from the easier hand cracks around, and also is a great introduction to the art of offwidth climbing.

Mainliner (5.9, 5 pitches): After tackling the 5.7 and 5.8 cracks of Lumpy, Mainliner is a great step up into the higher grades, featuring sustained 5.8 climbing with some thought-provoking 5.9 moves at the crux.

Climb of the Ancient Mariner (5.10a, 3 pitches): This is one of the best slab climbs in the known universe. Three pitches of technical slab climbing up a seemingly blank face will test your smearing skills, and will make small holds on other routes seem huge. This is a great route option for advanced climbers.
